There's a common misconception that hypnotherapy is something mysterious or magical...we've all seen stage hypnotists make people walk around like chickens, haven't we!
But the truth is that stage hypnosis and hypnotherapy are actually very different things.
Hypnosis for hypnotherapy is simply an elevated state of consciousness that allows better access to the subconscious mind - the place where our repressed memories and fears are held - in fact we naturally go into states of hypnosis every single day, for example when we drive a route so familiar that we go into auto-pilot.
In hypnotherapy, we use this heightened state of consciousness to make positive changes that can help to change your fears and negative core beliefs.
It surprises most people to learn that being under hypnosis just feels like being very deeply relaxed. You are aware of your surroundings at all times during hypnotherapy, and you are always in control. I can not force you to do anything that you do not want to do - which is why your own willpower and desire to make a positive change is vital to the success of hypnotherapy.
Hypnotherapy has so many uses that its difficult to cover them all - but let's try!
Hypnotherapy can be used for, among other things: Treatment of anxiety & panic attacks, improving confidence and self esteem, overcoming phobias and fears, and making behavioural changes such as improving focus and concentration, smoking cessation, improving insomnia and anger management.
Hypnosis can also be used to explore past life regression, which can be a truly fascinating experience.
This really depends on the problem at hand, and how you feel your sessions are going - we will discuss a session plan during your initial consultation, but as a general guideline patients usually start to see improvements after 3 sessions.
I offer online sessions via Zoom - an easy-to-use online video chat system, I will send you a link to our session 24 hours prior to our appointment time.
I also have a private therapy room in Paignton, Devon for in-person sessions. Please contact me at email@example.com to discuss booking a free consulation.
I strongly believe that the key to successful therapy is finding the right therapist for you, which is why I offer all clients a free consultation before we agree to work together.
As someone who has experienced therapy personally I will not be at all offended if you feel that I am not the right fit for you...I may even be able to put you in touch with some other therapists who may be a better fit for you.
